Oisho Bani Society (OBS) was formed for the promotion of Education and Humanitarian causes irrespective of caste, creed, religion, community or language. OBS is a charitable organization formed and registered by SVD (Society of The Divine Word) fathers in North East India under the Societies Registration Act 1860, in the year 2000 with registration number 3613 of 2000 at Ambassa, Dhalai, Tripura.
OBS is working for the integral development of the most marginalized and vulnerable communities in the North East India, particularly in Tripura. We are working to realize and uplift their human worth and dignity through delivery of basic services in the fields of education, health, livelihood, income generation and care of creation as well as networking and community mobilization along with relief and rehabilitation. We firmly believe in People Led Development (PLD) approach.
We are involved in education especially for the tribal children in the interior and backward district in Tripura. Besides education, animation , training and capacity building for youth, women and children are also regularly conducted. We have been also working with the PwDs and CwDs to improve their quality of life.
It is also actively involved in poverty eradication, health care activities and relief work during disaster. During this Covid 19 pandemic time Oisho Bani Society has been actively involved in carrying out relief work by providing food materials to more than 5000 families. Besides the relief material distribution over 100 tribal families were selected and provided Rs. 6000 each for taking up livelihood activities like Animal husbandry, fishery, Organic Farming, petty business etc. This initiative is well appreciated by the people as well as media. We have our Registered office at Dhalai District and working offices in Agartala and Guwahati. We have also animators and volunteers in the field who help in implementing and monitoring the projects. We firmly believe in People Led Development approach which makes our initiatives more sustainable.
